Re:vive Therapeutic Food Project

Malnutrition occurs when a child does not receive foods with the essential vitamins and minerals the body needs. It destroys the immune system, increases the risk of diseases – pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, measles or AIDS, and makes a child less capable of recovering from it. Malnutrition is most common in children between the ages of 6 and 24 months.

• Without access to essential nutrients, a child dies every 6 seconds.
• According to the World Health Organization, 178 million children, are malnourished across the globe.
• 20 million children under the age of 5 suffer from the most severe form of acute malnutrition.
• Malnutrition is the underlying cause of death for between 3 and 5 million children under five, every year.
• Only 3% of the 20 million children suffering from severe acute malnutrition each year receive the treatment they need.

What is the solution?

With our unique position within the industry, the Mama Cares Foundation has created a Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) called Re:vive that is able to drastically improve the lives of those suffering from malnutrition.

This RUTF is simply, a peanut butter- like paste with several benefits including:

• Packed with the essential vitamins and nutrients lacking in malnourished children's diet.
• The "miracle food" doesn’t need refrigeration, water, or cooking, which is ideal for communities without access to electricity, clean water, or fuel.
• The majority of malnourished children can take Re:vive at home, under the care of their mother or supervisor, leaving more room in the hospitals.

Each packet includes 550 calories and is the equivalent of a glass of milk and a multivitamin!
